Prompt: If you could have a conversation with yourself in high school, what would you say?
First and foremost, it will get worse.
The drama that you find yourself involved in now is not the end of the world, your world will ‘end’ much worse. The good news though, is that you will survive. You will overcome the challenges that are thrown your way and you will become a better person.
A few things to keep in mind for the next coming years;
- Follow YOUR heart. Don’t let anyone else influence your decisions because nothing will ever really be good enough.
- It. Is. Not. Your fault. No matter what happens, no matter what he says, the decisions your father made were his and his alone. You are not to blame for any of it, no matter how much he believes that it is.
- You will have your heart-broken, but that’s okay because it’ll help you figure out who you are and hopefully lead to something greater.
- Start saving now, even if it’s a little bit a month. You’ll thank me later… and it’ll help with the “financial” talks that your older brother will inevitably be giving you.
- Don’t hold back.
High school’s a breeze compared to what’s coming up. So get your emotions in check, stop fucking around and put a little bit more effort into your studies. You’ll thank me later when you’re not paying off a ton of student loans!
